WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Anderson junior Katelyn Rodgers finished in 14th place in the women's heptathlon Wednesday afternoon at the Deacon Combined Events Classic hosted by Wake Forest at Kentner Stadium.
Rodgers tallied 3,649 points over the two-day event, just 38 points behind Shorter College's Keirera Higgins. Wake Forest senior Caroline Vaughn, who led after the opening day's events, slipped to fourth while Bridget Ingram, competing with the Lemans Track Club, garnered 5,384 points to collect the overall win. Rodgers began the day in 13th after four events on Tuesday and picked up a 13th-place finish in the long jump (4.81m) and followed with a distance of 29.28m in the javelin throw to garner an eighth-place finish. She closed out the heptathlon with a 13th-place finish in the 800m run.
