Track Finishes Strong at Emory

ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Anderson men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Emory Classic on Friday and Saturday, but before the team events got underway, AU's Zach Hart collected a fifth-place finish in the Emory Decathlon on Thursday and Friday. The freshman was consistent throughout the two-day event, collecting a fourth-place finish in the 100m dash, long jump and shot put and finished second in the pole vault with a height of 13'5 ¼ inches, just four inches shy of the top mark. The men's team finished ninth overall, while the women's squad collected a fourth-place finish. Freshman Will Byers took home a ninth-place finish in the men's hammer throw with a distance of 35.00 meters and placed second in the men's shot put (13.25m). Josh Butler claimed seventh in the 100m dash with a time of 11.04, while freshman Alex Pena crossed the finish line in seventh in the 5000m run with a time of 16.17.35. Nigel Reynolds posted a first-place finish in the 1500m run (4:15.14) and senior Alex Jordan added a fourth-place finish in the 800m run with a time of 1:57.92. Junior Durecelle Campbell earned first place with a toss of 38.24 meters in the women's hammer throw, with teammate Lauren Sloan right behind at 36.89 meters, claiming second. Sloan also garnered a first-place finish in the shot put with a distance of 11.36m and collected third with a toss of 29.80m in the javelin throw. The women's 4x100m relay team, consisting of a sophomore and three freshmen (Re'Jeania Evans, Joelle Purinton, Sarah Solesbee and Krishaun Hall) posted an outstanding time of 51.68 to garner fifth place. Junior Katelyn Rodgers posted a height of 1.57 meters in the high jump to place second, while claiming fourth in the javelin throw at 26.93. Sophomore Whitney Bishoff took home first-place in the 3000m run (10:32.49) and second in the women's 1500m run (4:48.05). Results
