Track and Field Completes Action at the CCU Invite

CONWAY, S.C. -- Anderson University men's and women's track and field teams continued to post stellar outings as the Trojans had a successful weekend at the annual Coastal Carolina Invitational on Friday and Saturday, with the Chanticleers welcoming 1,400 athletes from 37 schools and four clubs. Competing against some of the strongest teams, both Division I and D-II, the Trojans more than held their own once again, as Anderson recorded 18 top-25 finishes, including six top-10 scores over the course of the two-day event. Highlighting the event was sophomore Whitney Bishoff's first-place finish in the women's 3000m in a time of 9:59.61, while teammate Lauren Sloan notched three top-25 finishes. The Reynoldsburg, Ohio native placed fifth in the shot put with a distance of 12.59m and 21st in the hammer throw (38.35m), while garnering 23rd in the javelin throw at 27.74m. Katelyn Rodgers posted a ninth-place finish in the high jump (1.55m) and tossed the javelin a distance of 28.91m to collect 22nd. Durecelle Campbell finished 19th in the hammer throw with a distance of 38.59 while Krishaun Hall (12.30) and Re'Jenia Evans (12.64) finished 10th and 17th, respectively in the 100m dash. Hall also added a 13th place finish in the 200m dash. The women's 4x400m Relay saw the Trojan team of Hall, Bshoff, Amanda Johnson and Kathryn Purinton collect 21st with a time of 4:24.23. The men's side saw senior Alex Jordan cross the finish line in fifth with a time of 4:01.52 in the 1500m, while Zach Anderson recorded ninth in the pole vault with a height of 4.30m. Teammate Alex Pena collected 12th in the 3000m steeplechase (10:15.79). Thrower Will Byers earned 12th in the shot put with a distance of 13.37m and the relay team of Josh Butler, Zach Hart, Nigel Reynolds and Cameron Forras placed 16th in the Men's 4x100m Relay (44.64., with Reynolds, Pena, Jordan and Drew Mahaffey earning 19th in the 4x400m Relay with a time of 3:37.38.
