WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Anderson's Katelyn Rodgers is in 13th place in the women's heptathlon after the opening day of the Deacon Combined Events Classic hosted by Wake Forest at Kentner Stadium.

Rodgers notched a total of 2,188 points on the first day and holds a 59-point advantage on Shorter College's Keirera Higgins and trails Shorter's Caitlin Bush by 64 points. Wake Forest senior Caroline Vaughn recorded a pair of personal-bests on Tuesday and currently leads the event after recording a total of 3,176 points on the first day. Rodgers started the day with a 12th-place finish in the 100m hurdles with a time of 17.20. She then captured ninth in the high jump with a height of 1.54m and garnered a distance of 8.14m in the shot put to finish 13th in that event.

The women's heptathlon will resume Wednesday afternoon with the long jump beginning at 2:30 pm.
