Track Has Great Outing at Appalachian State

BOONE, N.C. -- The women's track and field team wrapped up its indoor season in stellar fashion at the Mountaineer Open Thursday night, hosted by Appalachian State. Anderson competitors claimed eight top-10 finishes, including the top spot in the 5000m event. Sophomore Whitney Bishoff was just off her school-record time in the 5000m run, but still claimed the top spot with a time of 18:10.02. Lauren Sloan placed in the top seven in two events, including an impressive third-place in the shot put with a distance of 11.90m and the Reynoldsburg, Ohio native captured seventh in the weight throw at 11.84m. Teammate Durecelle Campbell posted a distance of 11.72m in the weight throw, finishing eighth just behind Sloan. Katelyn Rodgers earned the 18th-spot in the shot put with a distance of 8.32m, while collecting fourth in the high jump (1.60m). The finals of the one-mile run saw Kristin Page garner 17th (6:30.34) and two Trojans posted back-to-back finishes in the 800m as freshman Kathryn Purinton (2:34.13) and Isabel Berry (2.35.84) crossed the finish line in seventh and eighth, respectively. In the 200m dash, AU's Krishaun Hall ran a time of 27.65, earning a fifth-place finish, while Sarah Solesbee placed 15th at 29.64.
