Trojan Track and Field Earns Conference Honors

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Following the 2010 Conference Carolinas' Track and Field Championships, eight Anderson athletes earned all-conference honors, as announced by the league office. Lauren Sloan closed out her stellar 2010 campaign by being named Field Athlete of the Year after helping lead the Trojan women to a second-place finish at the championships. Sloan captured the award by sweeping the two throwing events on day two and was named all-conference for her efforts. She won the shot put with a distance of 12.29m and won the discus with a distance of 38.49m and finished second in the javelin with a distance of 40.26m and second in the javelin with a distance of 33.62m on day one of the meet. Teammate Whitney Bishoff was also named all-conference after winning the 5000m event and finishing second in the 1500m run, while Durecelle Campbell earned first-team all-conference accolades by finishing first in the women's hammer throw. Krishaun Hall's first place in the 400m dash and Re'Jeania Evans' second-place finish in the 100m dash earned the duo first and second team all-conference honors, respectively. Three men's track athletes garnered second-team accolades after the team collected a fourth-place finish overall, with Josh Butler placing second in the 100m dash and sixth in the 200m dash. Matt Shaffer placed second in the 800m run, while Alex Jordan claimed second in the 1500m run.
