Men’s Soccer Stays Second in NCAA Regional Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - For the third consecutive week, the Anderson University men's soccer team is ranked second in the Southeast Region by the NCAA Division II Championship committee, as released by the NCAA Wednesday afternoon.

The Trojans (15-3, 9-0 SAC), who won the South Atlantic Conference regular-season championship and are the top seed in this week's league tournament, outlasted Wingate, 2-1, the tourney's opening-round matchup Tuesday afternoon.

The top six spots remained the same, with North Georgia jumping up two spots to seventh, with Lander slipping one spot to eighth and Tusculum dropping out of the region's top 10. Limestone, which was not ranked last week, appeared at No. 9 this week.

The NCAA rankings, which have been published weekly, are used to determine seeding in the NCAA Tournament. The Southeast Region, comprised of the South Atlantic Conference, Conference Carolinas and the Peach Belt Conference, will garner six spots in the NCAA Tournament, with the field scheduled to be announced on Monday at 7 p.m. at www.ncaa.com.

The Trojans face fourth-seeded Lincoln Memorial in the tournament semifinals Friday at 3 p.m. at the Manchester Meadows Soccer Complex in Rock Hill, S.C.
