BREVARD, N.C. - The ninth-ranked Anderson University men's soccer team wrapped up its four-match road swing by holding off Brevard, 2-0, in South Atlantic Conference action Wednesday afternoon at the BC Soccer Field.

Anderson (10-2, 5-0 SAC) stretched its win streak to a school-record eight matches, while Brevard fell to 1-11-1 overall, 0-6 in the SAC and has dropped eight of its last nine contests.

The Trojans were unable to capitalize on a 6-2 advantage in shots in the opening half and also held a 5-0 edge in corner kicks.

After combining for the eight shots in the opening 45 minutes of action, the two teams came out with four shots in the opening eight minutes of the second half alone, with three coming from the Trojans. But AU came up empty until senior forward Lasse Sohrweide took advantage of a foul on the Tornados and booted home a penalty kick in the 58th minute to give the Trojans a 1-0 lead.

Senior forward Daniel Bowers nearly gave the Trojans a two-goal lead in the 70th minute, but his shot bounced off the post. However, junior forward Clement Samson's shot at the 82:49 mark did find its way into the Tornados' net, giving AU a 2-0 lead and some breathing room in the final minutes.

The AU defense posted its sixth shutout of the season, with junior net-minder Lukas Hesse earning the win with two saves between the pipes.

Anderson outshot Brevard, 15-6, on the afternoon and posted eight corner kicks to the Tornados' one.

Anderson will put its 11-match home win streak on the line Saturday when Tusculum invades Trojan Stadium for a 3 p.m. match.
