Men’s Soccer Ranked 17th Nationally in Preseason Poll

ANDERSON, S.C. - The Anderson men's soccer team will begin the 2011 campaign in the same spot nationally as the squad finished last season, as AU is ranked 17th in the NSCAA/Continental Tire Division II National Top 25 Poll released by the National Soccer Coaches Association late Tuesday afternoon.

Anderson will return 19 letterwinners, including nine starters for 2011 the Trojans, and will be looking for their fourth consecutive winning season and third straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.

The Trojans earned 15 wins last season and finished third in the South Atlantic Conference regular-season standings. However AU claimed victories in 12 of its final 14 matches to win the SAC tournament title en route to a Sweet 16 appearance.

AU opens the regular season on Sept. 2 at Clayton State.

The first regional and national polls of the regular season are slated to be released on Tuesday, Sept. 6.
