Sohrweide Named SAC Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. - On the strength of a hat trick and nine total points on the week, Anderson University standout forward Lasse Sohrweide has been named the South Atlantic Conference's men's soccer Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.

Sohrweide notched four goals, including two game-winners, and an assist on the week to help lead the Trojans to a perfect 2-0 record last week. Sohrweide's second career hat trick lifted AU to a 4-1 home win past Newberry, then he notched the lone score of the contest at Lincoln Memorial as the Trojans clinched the conference regular-season championship.

His three-goal effort versus the Wolves began in the 17th minute after teammate Shu Ogawa tapped the ball to Shorweide, who found the back of the net for his 12th score of the 2011 campaign. Less than 10 minutes into the second half Sohrweide corralled Ryan Messick's free kick from nearly the same distance as the first goal and recorded his second score of the contest, putting AU ahead 2-0. He answered a Newberry goal in the 63rd minute by putting the ball in the net from point-blank range after taking a cross from teammate Mark Smith.

His second-half goal at LMU came from the left side of the goal after taking a long cross from teammate Daniel Bowers in the 51st minute.

The sixth-ranked Trojans travel to Erskine Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. kick-off.
