AC, St. Andrews Battle To 1-1 Tie

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Anderson College and St. Andrews Presbyterian College battled to a 1-1 tie in a CVAC match Saturday afternoon at Smethers Field. St. Andrews scored at the 4:05 mark when Michael Monahan found the back of the AC net off an assist from Ariel Sansone. AC tied the match at 53:56 when Michael Zion scored on a header. He was assisted by Trey Aull. Anderson is now 1-10-3 overall and 1-3-3 in the CVAC, while St. Andrews is 5-9-1 and 3-3-1. The match was AC's sixth overtime this season. The Trojans are now 1-2-3 in overtime. It was a physical 110 minutes as 46 fouls were called -- 27 against St. Andrews and 19 against Anderson. But there were just two yellow cards, one for each side. St. Andrews outshot AC, 20-7 Anderson goalkeeper Jack Ward made 11 saves, while St. Andrews goalkeeper Hal Tate made one save.
