Pfeiffer Scores Late To Beat AC, 2-1

MISENHEIMER, N.C. -- Pfeiffer's Jesse Powers scored from 30 yards out in the 108th minute to give the Pfeiffer University men's soccer team a 2-1 CVAC victory over Anderson College Saturday afternoon. Pfeiffer scored first on a goal from Tom Funk at the 43:00 minute mark. With two minutes remaining in the game, Anderson's Trey Hull took a corner kick and Jody Forno scored. After a scoreless first overtime, Powers scored with 1:08 remaining in the second overtime to give the Falcons the victory, their third of the season in overtime. Both teams finished the match with 20 shots apiece. Pfeiffer goalkeeper Nick Drye made nine saves, while Anderson's Jack Ward had five saves. The victory improves Pfeiffer to 3-4-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the CVAC, while Anderson falls to 0-6-1, 0-2-1.
