WINGATE, N.C. -- Chris Penley scored his second goal of the match with 53 seconds remaining to give Lenior-Rhyne a 3-2 victory over Anderson College in the Wingate Classic Saturday afternoon. Anderson, 0-2 overall, took a 1-0 lead at the 12:16 mark on Blake Wood's third goal of the season. Robert Hajnal scored the tying goal for L-R 13 minutes later, but AC retook the lead just six minutes later on a goal by Ryan MacDonald. Penley scored his first goal with 12 minutes remaining in the first half. His game winner came at the 89:07 mark when he wrapped a shot around AC goalkeeper Jason Brown. L-R outshot AC, 16-13. Brown made eight saves, while L-R goalkeeper Tom Skora made four saves.
