Bulldogs Take Control In First Half, Beat AC, 3-1

ANDERSON, S.C. - Barton College jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first half and cruised to a 3-1 victory over Anderson College in a Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference match Saturday afternoon at Smethers Field. Barton, 1-2-1 overall and 1-0 in the CVAC, took control of the match in the first half. The Bulldogs got a penalty kick from Eli Ruhl at 36:36, a goal by Joby Ruhl at 24:49, and a goal by Don Peters assisted by Joby Ruhl and Daniel Hileman at 6:39. Anderson, 0-5 and 0-1, broke up the shutout in the 88th minute on a goal by Evan Newton. Anderson outshot Barton, 19-17. Barton goalkeeper Matt Kennedy made 11 saves, and AC goalkeeper Jack Ward made nine saves.
