Men’s Golf to Tee it Up at Irish Creek Country Club

ANDERSON, S.C. – A week after finishing fourth at the AU Invitational, the Anderson men's golf team is set to compete at the Queens University of Charlotte Collegiate Invitational, which will be hosted by the Royals at the Irish Creek Country Club, Monday and Tuesday, in Kannapolis, N.C.

The Club at Irish Creek has hosted a number of elite events, including U.S. Open qualifiers, the PGA Tour Q-School qualifiers, and the AJGA events. The tournament will serve as the first regular-season home event that the Royals have hosted in the last six seasons.

Competition is scheduled to begin on Monday at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start. Tuesday's round will begin at 9 a.m.

Sophomore Grayson Bell led the Trojans with a two-day 3-over-par 147 in last week's season-opening tourney, while finishing in a tie for third and just three strokes off the pace. Bell, a native of Piedmont, S.C., carded a tournament-best 10 birdies at Cobb's Glen.

AU sophomore David Monroe shared seventh place last week, while freshman Jake Miller tied for 25th place in his collegiate debut. Newcomer Weston Bell shared 27th place, with freshman Drake McAlister finishing in a tie for 33rd. Senior Payton Whitlock finished in a tie for 38th.
