Men’s Golf Wraps up Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate in Seventh Place

SUNSET BEACH, N.C. – Paced by graduate student Weston Bell's season-best 2-under-par 70 on Tuesday, the Anderson University men's golf team finished in seventh place at the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate on Tuesday.

The two-round tourney was hosted by Lincoln Memorial and Lenoir-Rhyne at the 7,020-yard, par 72 Panther's Run Course at Ocean Ridge Plantation at Ocean Ridge Plantation.

Duke (B) posted a two-day 556, while leading the tourney wire-to-wire and claimed a sizeable 27-shot win over second-place Lincoln Memorial (583). Coker (586), Belmont Abbey (586) and Lenoir-Rhyne (586) all shared the third spot, with North Greenville (588) finishing sixth and the Trojans in seventh following a two-day 591. Catawba (593) wrapped up the top half of the field in eighth.

Brevard (599), Barton (604), Pfeiffer (605), Walters State (605), Washburn (608), Emmanuel (610), Cape Fear (619) and Chowan (622) rounded out the field.

The Duke trio of Alexander Matlari (138), Shrish Dwivedi (138) and Adam Wood (139) claimed the top three individual spots.

Bell trimmed four strokes off Monday's first-round 74 and moved from a share of 24th place into a tie for ninth, while sophomore Grayson Bell (70-75=145) was one shot further back in a tie for 13th. Sophomore David Monroe (76-74=150) finished in a tie for 29th, with junior Forrest Fowler (76-76=152) claiming a share of 48th. Freshman Jake Miller finished in a tie for 60th after carding a two-day 154.

The Trojans return to action Monday at the State Farm Intercollegiate, which is slated to be hosted by Lincoln Memorial at Woodlake Golf Course in Tazewell, Tenn.
