GREENVILLE, S.C. – Led by freshman Jake Miller's three-round, 11-over-par 227, the Anderson University men's golf team placed 12th at the Southern Tide Intercollegiate, which was co-hosted by Coker and Limestone at the par 72, 6,952 yard Green Valley Country Club.
Limestone led the event wire-to-wire, while finishing 10 strokes ahead of both Coker and Queens, who shared the second spot. Barton slipped from a share of second place into fourth, with Belmont Abbey claiming fifth place. Clayton State and Montevallo remained sixth and seventh, respectively.
Erskine (A), King, Southern Wesleyan, North Greenville, Anderson and Erskine (B) rounded out the 13-team field.
Clayton State's Keith Egan (215) overcame a seven-shot deficit following Monday's first two rounds to earn individual medalist honors by one shot over both Coker's Will Bundy (216) and Barton's Scott Pechacek (216).
Miller jumped from a share of 34th place into a tie for 22nd on Tuesday, while graduate student Weston Bell claimed 52nd place after carding a three-round 237. Sophomore Grayson Bell (241) slashed nine strokes from Monday's second round and vaulted from a tie for 68th into a share of 56th on Tuesday.
Sophomore David Monroe posted a three-round 245 and finished 64th, with senior Payton Whitlock notching a 248 and finishing in a tie for 68th.
Following a three-week layoff, the Trojans will get back in action at the Lander Bearcat Classic.
