GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - Anderson senior guard Alissa Diaz poured in a season-high 24 points to help lead Anderson to a 71-53 road win past Tusculum in South Atlantic Conference women's basketball action Wednesday night at Pioneer Arena.

Anderson (10-5, 4-1 SAC) won its third straight and eighth in its last 10 outings, while handing Tusculum (8-5, 2-3 SAC) its first home loss of season in six contests. The Pioneers suffered their second straight setback and have dropped three of their last four decisions.

The Trojans connected on a season-high 12 treys (12-of-23) and led by as many as 29 points late in the second half.

Anderson senior guard Amanda Parris added 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc and recorded four assists, while sophomore guard Lesley Woods netted 12 points. Senior forward Breonda Shannon tossed in seven points and swiped a team-high three steals, with senior Tilde Ahlin dishing out a career-best six assists.

Senior guard April McCann, a second-team All-SAC selection, paced Tusculum with 12 points and seven rebounds and matched her career high with five steals. Senior guard Kendal Baxter added nine points for the Pioneers.

Leading 25-20 with 6:52 left in the first half, the Trojans erupted for 15 unanswered points to double up Tusculum and take a 40-20 lead at halftime.

Anderson drained three 3-pointers during the deciding outburst, with Diaz connecting on two of her three treys in a two-minute span.

Tusculum climbed back within 48-31 with 12:07 remaining on a jumper by Alishia Mosley, but Diaz and Parris countered with back-to-back 3-pointers as part of a 10-0 run that gave the Trojans a 58-31 lead midway through the final half.

Parris' fifth 3-pointer with less than five minutes left gave the Trojans their largest lead of the night at 69-40.

Anderson returns to the friendly confines of the Abney Center on Saturday, playing host to Carson-Newman. Tip-off versus the Eagles is slated for 2 p.m.
