Softball Team Drops A Pair Of 1-0 Decisions

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles won a pair of 1-0 games over the visiting Anderson Lady Trojans Monday afternoon at the Carson-Newman Softball Complex. Carson-Newman improves to 24-4, while Anderson falls to 12-31. The Lady Trojans have lost eight straight, four by one run. Both games were won by the Lady Eagles late in the contest. In game one, LeAndrea Johnson singled to lead off the bottom of the seventh inning and scored on the game-winning double to left center field by Mandy Stevens. Freshman Tiffany Seals was the hero in game two as she smacked a triple to left field to begin the home half of the sixth inning. Seals then scored when Johnson hit a sacrifice fly to produce the 1-0 final. The Lady Eagles' pitching was superb in both games of Monday's double-header. Megan Elliott pitched a two-hit gem with six strikeouts. Sarah Houser notched her second win of the season as she struck out five batters in seven innings. Rachelle Lawrence had both of Anderson's hits in the first game. Lindsay Crump had two hits in three trips for Anderson in the second game.
