FLORENCE, S.C. -- The 24th ranked Anderson men's tennis team wrapped up its regular season with a 9-0 setback to No. 13 Francis Marion Wednesday afternoon at the Kassab Courts. In a battle of two teams that are also regionally ranked, Francis Marion (10-6) swept the doubles point, including two close matches that set the tone for the afternoon. AU's Renato Assuncao and Ilya Zakharov dropped a hard-fought 8-4 decision at No. 1, while John Karle and Daniel Gonzalez fell, 9-7, in another tight contest. Zakharov and John Karle suffered three-set losses at the number three and number five flights, respectively. Anderson (11-7) had its three-match win streak snapped, but will be looking to get back on the winning track when the second-seeded Trojans square off against No. 7 seed Erskine in the opening round of the 2010 Conference Carolinas Tournament on Friday.
