ANDERSON, S.C. -- Behind strong performances in both singles and doubles action, the Anderson men's and women's tennis teams took identical 7-2 wins past Pfeiffer in Conference Carolinas action Saturday afternoon at the Max Grubbs Tennis Courts. The Anderson women's squad improved to 5-5 overall and 3-2 in conference action, while the men's team moved to 7-2 on the season and stayed perfect in league action at 4-0. The Trojan women's team has claimed wins in four of their last five matches and their men's counterparts have won five consecutive matches. Anderson's women dropped their top two singles matches, but swept the doubles action and took wins in five of the singles matches to claim the conference win. With her straight-set win at No. 4, Julie Halbert improved her singles' record to 8-1 on the year. On the men's side, AU notched wins at No. 2 and No. 3 in doubles and five of the singles' flights for the victory. Freshman John Karle continued his phenomenal start to open the season, stretching his singles' win streak to nine, while teammates Stephane Murray and Ilya Zakharov each improved to 8-1 on the year. After playing three matches in three days, the Trojans have a five-day layoff before travelling to Gaffney for a conference tilt at Limestone.
