DUE WEST, S.C. -- The Anderson men's tennis team won its second straight Conference Carolinas road match with a convincing, 8-1, win past local rival Erskine Tuesday night. With the win Anderson improved to 10-6 overall and 6-1 in league action, while the Flying Fleet slipped to 6-4 overall and 2-4 in Conference Carolinas action. AU's Renato Assuncao, Stephane Murray, Stan Atema and John Karle all collected two wins on the afternoon, as the Trojans swept the doubles' action. Assuncao and Ilya Zakharov teamed up to knock off Erskine's Caleb Barnes and Angelo Ciarrocchi, 8-4, at the No. 1 doubles flight, while the AU tandem of Murray and Atema defeated EC's Nemanja Brcan and James Hoatson, 8-2, at No. 2. Karle and Daniel Gonzalez blanked Fabio Ciarrocchi and Vincent Chauvette, at the No. 3 slot, 8-0. The Trojans closed out by claiming five of the six singles' matches with Assuncao stretching his win streak to four matches. Anderson closes out its regular season with a pair of home matches, as Georgia College and State University visits the Max Grubbs Courts Thursday and the Trojans celebrate Senior Day Saturday with Conference Carolinas opponent Barton on campus.
