Miller Wants To Build On This Year's Progress

ANDERSON, S.C. -- After playing one of the most challenging schedules in school history with a young team, Anderson University head men's soccer coach Rob Miller is excited about the future. "This year we had to replace five experienced starters from last year's team, including three All-Conference players," Miller said. "We had several young players that had to come in and contribute right away. With a young team, you often experience ups and downs." The Trojans finished the season 8-11 overall and 5-5 in Conference Carolinas. Three of Anderson's losses were by one goal. The highlight of the season was a 1-0 overtime upset of Lees-McRae, the only regular-season loss suffered by the Bobcats. "Facing eight top 25 teams, we had two quality wins defeating the No. 2 and No. 17 teams in the country and finished the season by winning four of our last five regular-season games," Miller said. "Our strong schedule was good for the development of the young players. We outscored our opponents 10-3 during that last stretch of the season." Miller is now seeking to build on this year's progress. "With a good returning core and a solid recruiting class, I'm excited about the future of the Anderson men's soccer program," he said.
