Men's Soccer Team Loses First Conference Match

HARTSVILLE, S.C. -- Coker snapped a two-game losing streak with a 3-0 victory over Anderson University in a Conference Carolinas match Saturday afternoon. Coker improves to 5-5 overall and 2-2 in Conference Carolinas, while Anderson falls to 3-6, 2-1. Coker opened the scoring early. Doug McMahen scored just three minutes after the kick-off, thanks to a long pass up the right side from Dennis Gonzalez. Anderson held Coker to just one goal into halftime, but in the 57th minute Mike Crook found the back of the net for an unassisted goal, putting the Cobras on top, 2-0. Coker capped off the victory in the 86th minute when Beeze Chastain sent a high cross to Olivier Harper for a breakaway. Joel Tyson recorded the shutout in the net for Coker, with two saves, while Anderson's Adrian Osborne took the loss, allowing three goals with two saves.
