ANDERSON, S.C. -- Alhadj Gahou scored on a header at the 75:45 mark to give Anderson University a 1-0 victory over Barton in a Conference Carolinas match Saturday afternoon at Smethers Field. Gahou, a junior from Ndjamena, Chad, got his head on a corner kick by Zach Denson and flicked it into the Bulldog net for the only score of the match. Anderson outshot Barton, 13-5. Anderson goalkeeper Preston Freeman made two saves to earn the shutout. Barton goalkeeper Matt Coble made six saves. Anderson improves to 6-10 overall and 4-5 in Conference Carolinas. Barton is now 5-11-1, 1-7-1. The victory assures Anderson a spot in the Conference Carolinas Tournament, which begins Oct. 30. Anderson's next match is Tuesday at Erskine.
