Trojans Lose Home Opener

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Montreat College scored one goal in each half to take a 2-0 non-conference victory over Anderson University Tuesday night at Smethers Field. Montreat won its third straight match to improve to 3-2. Anderson now stands at 1-3. "We are struggling right now to find our attack," said Anderson head coach Rob Miller. "I thought our defenders played well, but we need to develop something up front." Admina Bangura gave the visiting Cavaliers a 1-0 lead at the 39:59 mark on a header off a corner kick from Steven Jackson. Bangura took Jackson's serve and flicked the ball into the upper right corner of the goal. Shaka Bangura scored Montreat's second goal at 68:55 on a rebound. Bangura started the sequence with a break away. His first shot was stopped by Anderson goalkeeper Adrian Osborne. After Troy Watson played the ball into the box, Bangura collected it and scored. Howard Fisher, Montreat's 6-foot-6 goalkeeper, made three saves to earn the shutout. Osborne made six saves for Anderson.
