Trojans Blow Away Tornados

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Paulo Passini scored two goals to lead Anderson University to a 5-1 victory over Brevard in a non-conference match Monday night at Smethers Field. Anderson, 5-9 overall, took a 1-0 lead at the 5:19 mark when Passini ran on to a loose ball and fired a 15-yard blast past Brevard goalkeeper Trevor Redpath. Four minutes later, Brevard tied the match when Ian Townson connected on a restart from 20 yards. Anderson took the lead for good in the 23rd minute when Stephon Henry scored from 10 yards out. Anderson added three more goals in the second half in a 14-minute span beginning at the 69:32 mark when Passini scored on a penalty kick after Henry was taken down in the box. The Trojans made it 4-1 at the 74:49 mark when Zach Denson fired a shot from the left wing that was deflected into the Tornado net. Anderson's final goal came at the 83:17 mark when Peter Miele played the ball to Zeronn Forte, who scored from the left wing. Anderson outshot Brevard, 19-13. Anderson starting goalkeeper Preston Freeman made six saves in 81 minutes, including two diving saves off restarts in the second half. Redpath made nine saves in the Brevard net.
