MONROE, N.C. – Paced by freshman Cal Brock's 5-over-par 149, the Anderson men's golf team is in eighth place following the first two rounds of the 18th Annual J. Ralph Hargett Memorial Intercollegiate.
The two-day, three-round event is being hosted by Wingate at the 6,725 yard, par-72 Monroe Country Club layout.
Lenoir-Rhyne leads the 12-team field by eight shots over second-place Belmont Abbey, while the host Bulldogs sit in third place and are five strokes off the pace set by the Bears. Coker is fourth, with Catawba holding the fifth slot and Belmont Abbey (B) is in sixth place following Monday's action.
Brevard and Anderson are in seventh and eighth place, respectively, while Pfeiffer, Wingate (B), Benedict and Pfeiffer (B) round out the field.
Wingate's Jarrett Stowe sits atop the individual leaderboard after firing a two-round 7-under-par 137 and leads Belmont Abbey's Nick Stafford by one shot heading into Monday's final round, with six other golfers hovering within five shots of Stowe.
Brock (76-73=149) is in a five-way tie for 19th, with sophomore Jake Miller (76-75=151) two shots further back in a tie for 26th. Freshman Colt Martin (78-75=153) shares the 29th spot, while junior Grayson Bell (78-79=157) is tied for 41st place after 36 holes. Junior Cole Jefferys rounded out the Trojan contingent in a tie for 51st place after carding a two-round 163.
The final round is set to start Monday morning.
