Men’s Golf Readies for King Invitational

ANDERSON, S.C. – On the heels of a narrow second-place finish at last week's AU Invitational, the Anderson men's golf team will compete at the King Invitational, which will be hosted by the Tornado at the par 70, 6,474 yard, Country Club of Bristol layout.

Despite a late push, the Trojans were unable to overtake Georgia Southwestern for the top spot, as the Hurricanes held on for a one-shot victory. Senior Forrest Fowler fired a two-day 6-over-par 150 and finished in a tie for second place, just four shots off the pace set by Brevard's Craig Stephen.

Cal Brock finished fifth in his collegiate debut after a two-round 151, while fellow freshman Colt Martin (78-76=154) shared eighth place and sophomore Jake Miller (79-76=155) finishing in a tie for 10th.

Juniors Grayson Bell (78-77=155) and Cole Jefferys (77-78=155) were among those deadlocked in 10th place, while sophomore Brady Cox trimmed six strokes off his opening-round score and finished in a tie for 24th. Junior David Monroe shaved eighth strokes from last Monday's first round and tied for 30th following a two-round 166. Sophomore Drake McAlister carded a two-day 172 and finished in 38th place.

The two-day event marks the Trojan men's team first appearance in Bristol, Tenn., while the women competed in the King Invitational in October, 2013.
