SUNSET BEACH, N.C. – Led by sophomore Jake Miller's two-day, 6-over-par 150, the Anderson men's golf team finished in a tie for 10th place, Tuesday at the 36-hole Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate.
The two-day event was co-hosted by Lincoln Memorial and Lenoir-Rhyne at the 6,924 yard, par-72 Ocean Ridge Plantation Lion's Paw course.
Limestone (B) overcame a two-shot deficit to win the tournament by three strokes over Lincoln Memorial. Coker remained in third, four shots behind the Railsplitters, while Mount Olive lept from a tie for seventh following Monday's first round into sole possession of fourth place. North Greenville finished in fifth place, with Queens just one shot further back in sixth place.
Barton jumped from 10th place into seventh, with Lenoir-Rhyne and Walters State Community College sharing eighth. The Trojans and Columbus State shared 10th place, one shot out of the eighth spot. Emmanuel fell from fourth to 12th, with Wingate remaining 13th.
Mars Hill, Wingate (B), Southern Wesleyan, Brevard and Chowan completed the 18-team field.
Coker's Wanjoo Lee came from two shots off the pace to claim individual medalist honors after firing a two-day 140, as one of only five golfers to break par on the 36-hole course. Limestone's Max Kalfjall finished two strokes further back, with three others finishing in a three-way tie for third.
Miller (73-77=150) finished in a tie for 26th. Four Trojans - freshman Cal Brock (75-80=155), sophomore Brady Cox (74-81=155), junior Grayson Bell (76-79=155) and senior Forrest Fowler (81-74=155) finished the two-day event in a tie for 47th, while sophomore Drake McAlister (83-82=165) finished 86th.
Following a two-week layoff, the Trojans are slated to wrap up their fall schedule at the Donald Ross Intercollegiate, which will be hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne at the Mimosa Hills Country Club in Morganton, N.C.
