TRAVELERS REST, S.C. – With a persistent rain throughout the region, the
third and final round of the Southern Tide Intercollegiate was at first suspended, then finally canceled, with the Anderson men's golf team finishing 12th at the 6,952 yard, par-72 Green Valley Country Club.
With the cancellation, co-host Limestone won the 15-team event by two shots over nearby North Greenville. Lincoln Memorial finished 10 shots further back in third place, with Mount Olive claiming fourth place. Limestone (B) placed fifth, with Belmont Abbey and North Georgia finishing sixth and seventh, respectively.
Coker and King finished eighth and ninth, respectively, with Erskine, Clayton State, Anderson, Queens, Southern Wesleyan and Flagler rounding out the field.
North Georgia's Logan Archer, Belmont Abbey's Nick Stafford, Limestone's Brett Krekorian and North Greenville's Chase Fisher all finished tied at the top of the individual leaderboard after carding 3-under-par 141s on Monday. Fisher was named the individual medalist after carding the lowest score on the back-9 in round two.
Sophomore Jake Miller paced the Trojans after posting a two-round 1-over-par 145 on Monday and finished with a share of 10th place. Freshman Cal Brock (72-79=151) tied for 37th place, while classmate Colt Martin (76-76=152) shared 45th place. Senior Forrest Fowler (79-81=160) tied for 72nd place and sophomore Brady Cox (83-83=166) placed 77th.
The Trojans are slated to get back on the links Sunday at the two-day J. Ralph Hargett Memorial in Monroe, N.C.
