Men’s Golf Finishes Tied for 12th at Mustang Intercollegiate

GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Sophomore Jake Miller fired a three-round 1-over-par 217,while leading the Anderson men's golf team to a share of 12th place at the Mustang Intercollegiate, which was hosted by Western New Mexico at the par 72, 7,015 yard Palm Valley Golf Club.

Nationally 44th-ranked Dixie State overcame a five-stroke deficit to win the three-round event by two shots over No. 34 Colorado School of Mines, while 11th -ranked Colorado – Colorado Springs shared third place, alongside Western Washington. No. 33 Colorado Christian jumped from a share of ninth place to finish alone in fifth place, with the host Mustangs placing sixth. No. 28 Simon Fraser slipped from a share of third place and claimed seventh, while Colorado State – Pueblo and Colorado Mesa finished eighth and ninth, respectively. West Texas A&M rounded out the top 10 finishers.

Regis, Anderson, Ottawa (Arizona), Cameron, Saint Martins, Northeastern State, UT Permian Basin, Montana State – Billings, Westminster and Fort Lewis finished out the 20-team field.

Dixie State's Nicklaus Britt and Colorado – Colorado Springs' Jack Duguid each carded 12-under-par 204s and finished tied for first, with Britt taking home individual medalist honors after notching a par on the first playoff hole. Colorado Christian's Chase Carlson was one stroke further back.

Miller finished in a seven-way tie for 37th, with senior Forrest Fowler firing a 2-under-par 70 in Tuesday's final round and vaulting from a share of 68th into a tie for 44th, alongside freshman Colt Martin. Classmate Cal Brock claimed a share of 61st place, while sophomore Brady Cox wrapped up the regular season in a five-way tie for 81st place.

Next up for Anderson is the South Atlantic Conference Championship, which will be hosted by the Trojans at Cobb's Glen Country Club in Anderson, S.C., April 8-10.
