Men’s Golf Heads to the Coast this Week

ANDERSON, S.C. – A week after finishing seventh at the King Invitational, the Anderson men's golf team is set for its second straight appearance and third appearance in five years at the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate at the Ocean Ridge Plantation in Sunset Beach, N.C.

Sophomore Jake Miller paced the Trojans last week with a two-day 144 and wrapped up the two-day tournament in a four-way tie for 15th, while classmate Brady Cox carded a two-round 146 and finished in a tie for 22nd. Junior Grayson Bell carded a two-day 147 and shared 28th, with freshman Cal Brock firing a 148 and finishing the tourney in a tie for 32nd. Senior Forrest Fowler carded identical 75s and finished in a tie for 36th.

The Trojans finished seventh at last year's Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate, with Bell sharing 13th place.  David Monroe finished in a tie for 29th, with Fowler claiming a share of 48th place. Miller finished in a tie for 60th.

Through two tournaments this fall, Miller and Brock lead the Trojans with a 74.75 stroke average while Fowler has averaged 75 through four rounds. Miller and Cox share low-round honors, with each carding a 1-over-par 71 in the second round of the King Invitational.
