Sheriff Wins Conference Title

CLEMMONS, N.C. -- Adam Sheriff of Anderson University shot a 2-over 73 in the final round to win the individual title at the Conference Carolinas Tournament Tuesday at the Salem Glen Golf Club. Sheriff, a junior from Anderson, finished the 54-hole event at even-par 213. He was the only player in the 50-player field to match par. The finish was Sheriff's fourth top-four finish this spring. Connor Tomilinson of Belmont Abbey was second at 214. Jonathan Burke of Barton, Laurence Noott of Pfeiffer, and Peter Tarver Jones of Belmont Abbey all tied for third at 216. In the team competition, Belmont Abbey beat Barton by two strokes (293-295) to take the title by two shots. The Crusaders finished the 54-hole event with a total of 879. Barton was second at 881, Anderson, also with a final round of 295, was third at 883; Coker was fourth at 884, and Pfeiffer was fifth at 894. Anderson's other three scores in the final round were Kurt Owings 73, Ryan Sprayberry 74, and Kenny Shockley 75.
