Pfeiffer Surges Into Lead In Men's Tourney

CLEMMONS, N.C. -- Pfeiffer shot a 280 to take a one-shot lead over Belmont Abbey and Barton in the Conference Carolinas Tournament Monday at the Salem Glen Golf Club. Entering Tuesday's final round, five teams are within three shots of the lead. Pfeiffer leads at 585. Belmont Abbey and Barton are tied for second at 586, and Anderson and Coker are tied for fourth at 588. Rounding out the field are Mount Olive 605, Queens University of Charlotte 606, St. Andrews Presbyterian 610, Limestone 620, and Lees-McRae 669. Anderson's Adam Sheriff shot the low round of the tournament -- 5-under 66 -- in the second round. Connor Tomlinson of Belmont Abbey shot a 70 to hold on to the individual lead at 139. Sheriff is second at 140, and Laurence Noott of Pfeiffer and Jimmy Gilliam of Coker are tied for third at 142. Following Sheriff for Anderson in the second round were Ryan Sprayberry 72, Kurt Owings 74, and Kenny Shockley 79. The final round will be played Tuesday morning.
