Men's Golf Team Drops To Sixth In The Final Round

ETOWAH, N.C. -- The Anderson University men's golf team dropped from third place to sixth place in the final round of the Independent Collegiate at the Etowah Valley Golf Club Tuesday afternoon. North Greenville shot a 309 in the second round to finish the 11-team event with a 36-hole total of 603 to beat Campbellsville by two shots. Host Brevard was third at 608, Lenior-Rhyne was fourth at 613, Montreal was fifth at 620, and Anderson was sixth at 625. Brad Caldwell of North Greenville (68-76) won the individual title by two shots. He was followed by Jeff Sullivan of Campbellsville (146) and Adam Sheriff and Scott Webb of Campbellsville, who tied for third at 147. After recording a 300 in the first round, the Trojans ballooned to a 325 in the second round. Sheriff led the way with a 75. He was followed by Kenny Shockley 79, Will Ferguson 85, and Charlie Bagwell 86. Shockley finished in ninth place with a 151 total. Anderson's next tournament is the Conference Carolinas Championship Apr. 20-22 at Clemmons, N.C.
