ETOWAH, N.C. -- The Anderson University men's golf team, coming off its first tournament victory of the season at North Greenville, is just six shots out of first place after the first round of the Independent Collegiate at the Etowah Valley Golf Club Monday. North Greenville is the leader after the first round of the 11-team event at 294. The Crusaders are followed by Campbellsville at 299, and Anderson at 300. Anderson has two players in the top three. Adam Sheriff and Kenny Shockley both shot 72 in the first round. Anderson's other two scores were Will Ferguson 75 and Ellis McNeely and Charlie Bagwell, who both shot 81. The second round will be played Tuesday.
