Conference Carolinas Men's Tourney Is Wide Open

CLEMMONS, N.C. -- Six teams are within five shots of the lead after the first round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament Sunday at the Salem Glen Golf Club. St. Andrews Presbyterian, Belmont Abbey, and Coker all are tied after the first round at 296. Anderson is fourth at 297, Mount Olive is fifth at 298, and Barton is sixth at 301. Connor Tomlinson of Belmont Abbey is the individual leader after the first round with a 2-under 69. Tomlinson was the only player in the 50-player field to break par in the first round. Alfred Kristinsson of St. Andrews, Kurt Owings of Anderson, Trey Bridwell of Coker, Johan Hagsund of Mount Olive, Jimmy Gilliam of Coker, and Mick Moberg of Mount Olive all are tied for second place behind Tomlinson at even-par 71. Following Owings for Anderson were Adam Sheriff 74, Ryan Sprayberry 75, and Will Ferguson 77. The second round of the 54-hole event will be played Monday morning.
