Sheriff Sets Course Record In Second Round

TAZEWELL, Tenn. -- Adam Sheriff of Anderson University shot a course record 8-under 64 in the second round of the Lincoln Memorial Fall Invitational Tuesday at the Woodlake Golf Club. Sheriff, a junior from Anderson, finished the two-day in second place in the individual standings with a total of 137. His 64 also is the lowest round posted by an Anderson golfer since the school joined Division II in 1999. Alex Lantz of Shorter (67-68) won the individual title with a total of 135. Host Lincoln Memorial cooled off in the second round. After firing a 16-under 272 Monday, the Railsplitters shot 295 in Tuesday's second round. Their total of 567 was still good enough for a five-shot victory over Shorter (290-282). Wingate (293-288) and Tusculum (297-284) tied for third, and North Greenville (286-299) was fifth. Anderson (293-294) finished sixth. Following Sheriff in the second round for the Trojans were Kenny Shockley 72, Kurt Owings 78, and Charlie Bagwell 80. The LMU Tournament concludes the fall portion of Anderson's schedule.
