Men's Golf Team Tied For Fifth After First Round

TAZEWELL, TENN. -- The Anderson University men's golf team is tied for fifth place after the first round of the Lincoln Memorial Fall Invitational Monday at the Woodlake Golf Course. The Trojans shot 293, their best score of the fall, on the par-72, 6,771-yard Woodlake course. Anderson is tied with Wingate for fifth. Host Lincoln Memorial shot a remarkable 16-under 272 in the first round. The Railsplitters had three players break 70, including first-round leader Cory Barlett with a 7-under 65. North Greenville is second at 286, and Tiffin and Shorter are tied for third at 290. Anderson was led in the first round by Kurt Owings, who shot an even-par 72. Owings was followed by Adam Sheriff and Charlie Bagwell with 73s and Kenny Shockley with a 75. Bartlett has a one-shot lead on LMU teammate Josh Collins and a two-shot lead on Shorter's Alex Lantz. The second round will be played Tuesday morning.
