Duncan and Maxwell Selected To The 2021-22 Academic All-District® Softball Team

ANDERSON, S.C.  – Anderson University graduate student Harlie Duncan and sophomore Laken Maxwell earned a spot on The 2021-22 Academic All-District® Softball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

Duncan graduated last year with a 4.0 in Biochemistry and also posted a 4.0 as a graduate student. Just as impressive as the native of Tolono, Ill. is in the classroom, Duncan has had an outstanding 2022 campaign on the field.

In the circle, Duncan is 17-3 and has earned All-Region honors from two different associations. Duncan broke AU's All-Time Career Win record earlier this season and has an opportunity to add to that total.

Maxwell has also had a stellar year in both the classroom and on the field. Maxwell carries a 3.93 in Kinesiology (Pre-Physical Therapy).

The native of Bowdon, Ga. holds an overall record of 21 wins and 5 losses and broke AU's All-Time Season Strikeout record this season. Maxwell has posted an 1.80 ERA and struck out 242 batters.

For her efforts, Maxwell was named South Atlantic Conference and D2CCA Region Pitcher of the Year and has been recognized nationally.

The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.

The CoSIDA Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages and are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2021-22 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CoSIDA Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
