ANDERSON, S.C. - Managing just three hits on the day, Anderson University baseball dropped to South Atlantic Conference rival Carson-Newman, 5-0, in a rare road contest at Anderson Memorial Stadium on Friday.

After the scheduled road matchup was moved to Memorial Stadium due to the Silver Diamond Baseball Complex's unplayable conditions, the Eagles, who were labeled as the home team on the scoreboard, captured their fourth straight win and moved to 7-3 on the season with a 5-2 league mark. The Trojans, who were the visitors on their home field, dropped to an even 6-6 mark on the year with a 4-3 record in the SAC.

Carson-Newman starter Quinton Yocom went the distance and earned his second complete game of the season, while recording 12 strikeouts and allowing just three hits. Yocom out-dueled junior right-hander David Thompson who tallied 4.1 innings and struck out five C-N hitters.

AU's three hits for the afternoon were three singles by leftfielder Garrett Bernardo, catcher LJ Newman and designated hitter Shawn Delmontagne. With the hitting drought, the Trojans were unable to place a runner on third base and were 0-of-2 for the afternoon with runners in scoring position.

Seven of C-N's nine batters tallied hits on the day, as leadoff hitter Ryan Addington, first baseman Evan Jurjevic and shortstop Bryan Everhart each posted two hits apiece. Everhart and catcher Greg Jones each drove in two runs, while left fielder Joe Tipton paced the club with two runs scored.

After a pair of scoreless innings to begin the game, the Eagles broke through on a two-run double down the right-field line by Jones. With two runners on following the double, Thompson got out of the inning with a fielder's choice by Jurjevic and a pop out by Everhart.

Carson-Newman added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth when Jurjevic and Everhart recorded back-to-back RBI singles to give the visiting hosts a 4-0 advantage. The Eagles would eventually cap off their scoring in the seventh when Everhart singled to right field and scored Jurjevic.

The setback snaps a three-game conference winning streak following AU's sweep of Mars Hill last weekend.

Anderson looks to bounce back on Saturday when it plays out the league series with the Eagles with a doubleheader. The action from Memorial Stadium is scheduled to get underway at noon.
