Boatner and Respress Named Jimmy John's Athletes of the Week

ANDERSON, S.C. – Kayson Boatner of the Anderson University softball team, and Simeon Respress of the men's track and field team have been named the Jimmy John's Female and Male Athletes of the week.

Boatner, was an instrumental part in helping the Trojans to a 4-0 record this past weekend. Overall, the Phenix City, Ala., native averaged a .769 batting average, going 10-for-13 from the plate with a 2.462 slugging percentage, 12 RBI's, nine runs scored and seven home runs. Boatner was also named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player of the Week and the South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week.

Respress, a freshman from Cornella, Georgia, set the long jump school record at the SWU Gotta Run Invite for the second time this season with a distance of 7.16m. In March, Respress recorded a distance of 6.87m at the Trojan Opener, the first home track and field meet held on the campus of Anderson University.

Each week, one male and one female student-athlete are honored as the Jimmy John's Athlete of the Week for his or her performance in competition, in the classroom, or in the community.
