Respress Sets Long Jump School Record at SWU GottaRun Invite

CENTRAL, S.C. – The Anderson University men's track and field team completed day two of the SWU GottaRun Invite on Saturday (Apr. 2) in Central, S.C.

Simeon Respress headlined the day for Anderson by breaking the school record in the long jump in a distance of 7.16m. He also finished in the top-five in the high jump at 1.85m.

On the track, Thomas Sutcliffe won the 1500m (4:01.63), Patrick Berlejung finished second (4:03.10), and David Mahnke was fourth (4:04.63). Daniel Similton finished inside the top-10 at seventh place (4:07.22), while Jonathan Roberts (4:08.26) and Ty Nelson (4:08.26) finished 11th and 12th, respectively. Sophomore Noah Brock recorded a top-20 time at a pace of 4:13.20.

Hunter Norman finished eighth in the 400m hurdles (1:00.79) to record another top-10 time for the Trojans. Ben Molitor added to that total in the 200m with a time of 22.41 to finish seventh. the 4x100m relay team consisting of Simeon Respress, Ben Molitor, Zach Cannon, and Hunter Norman took sixth place at 43.80. Meanwhile, the 4x400 relay team of Matthew Burgess, Ian Marcuda, Ben Molitor, and Hunter Norman tied for ninth at 3:34.13.

"We took a big step forward today with a good amount of personal records and one school record," said assistant coach Andrew Mudd. "This gives us a lot of momentum going into a huge meet next week."
