Quillen Named SAC Astroturf Men's Track Athlete of the Week

ANDERSON, S.C. – Philip Quillen of the Anderson University men's track and field team has been named the South Atlantic Conference Astroturf Men's Track Athlete of the Week.

Quillen, a senior from Spartanburg, S.C., broke the Anderson school record in the 3,000m steeplechase by winning the event in a time of 9:04.69 at the Georgia Tech Invitational. This mark provisionally qualifies him for NCAA Nationals and ranks 19th in the country.

"Philip had a breakthrough performance Friday night to show that he is ready for something special this upcoming postseason," said head coach Kevin Eagle. "He currently ranks 19th in the NCAA in the 3,000m SC with a lot of room to advance higher."

The Trojans will be back in action on Thursday (May 5) as they get set to host the SAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. More information can be found at www.autrojans.com.
