Duncan, Boatner, Cantrell and Middleton Earn All-SAC Postseason Honors

 

Rock Hill, S.C. – Anderson University seniors Harlie Duncan, Matti Cantrell and junior Kayson Boatner were named to the All-SAC first team (Duncan and Boatner) and the All-SAC second team (Cantrell), while senior Sarah Middleton earned the Statistical Champion for lowest ERA and Anderson as a team won the lowest team ERA, released by the conference office on Thursday morning.

Duncan earned All-SAC First Team after posting a 13-3 overall record for the Black and Gold. The native of Tolono, Ill. pitched a team-high 116 innings, striking out 102 batters and posting a 2.41 ERA. Duncan ranks tied-2nd in the SAC in overall wins, fourth in ERA and seventh in total strikeouts.

Boatner was named to the All-SAC First Team as a first baseman. The native of Phenix City, Ala. batted a team-high .412 with seven doubles, 12 home runs, slugging percentage of .773 and 27 RBI. Boatner ranks fourth in the SAC in batting average and tied for second in total home runs.

Cantrell earned All-SAC Second Team as an outfielder. The native of Gray Court, S.C. started in 36-of-38 games. Cantrell batted .349 while hitting nine doubles, one triple and four home runs. She had 45 chances in left field throughout the season, committing just one error.

Middleton was named a Statistical Champion for the lowest ERA (1.70). The native of Peachtree City, Ga. posted a 7-3 overall record for the Trojans. She has pitched a total of 57.2 innings with 54 strikeouts.

Anderson's team was named the Statistical Champion for lowest team ERA. Duncan (2.41), Middleton (1.70) and freshman Laken Maxwell (2.91) together posted a combined ERA of 2.41.

The second-seeded Trojans begin conference tournament play tomorrow at host Tusculum. Anderson is slated to play No. 7 Lenoir-Rhyne at 4 pm.
