Anderson, S.C. – The Anderson University Softball team exploded for a total of 18 hits and 19 runs during the doubleheader sweep over nonconference opponent Lees-McRae, winning game 1, 8-1, while taking the nightcap, 11-1 (5 innings), on Tuesday afternoon at the AU Softball Complex. The Trojans improve to 4-0 overall, while the Bobcats fall to 1-3.
"This entire team is having a lot of fun but working hard and taking the game seriously," said head coach Tommy Hewitt.
"Lee's-McRae is a good team and will win their share of games," added Hewitt. "That is what makes these good wins. "
Notes
Dating back to last season, the Trojans have won 17 straight games.

The Trojans scored a lone run in the first inning, two runs in the third inning, four in the fourth innings and one in the sixth to defeat the Bobcats. Freshman hurler, Laken Maxwell (3-0) picked up the win after going the distance. Maxwell gave up just three hits, while striking out 11.

-Kayson Boatner went 3-for-4 with a double, two home runs and four RBI.
-Mattie Hamilton batted 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.
-Jessica Neadow went 2-fo-4 with two runs scored.
-Sydney Belcher and Kennedy Burton went 1-for-2 with Burton scoring one run.

Anderson scored the first run of the game in the first inning of play and then blew up for 10 runs in the second inning. The Trojans got home runs from Neadow and Mattison Cantrell. Senior Harlie Duncan (1-0) picked up her first win of the 2021 season after giving up five hits and striking out three batters.
Key Trojans
-Morgan Charter went 2-for-2, driving in a run and scoring a run.
-Cantrell batted 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI. Cantrell also crossed the plate twice.
