Anderson, S.C. – Anderson University softball freshman Laken Maxwell earned SAC AstroTurf Pitcher of the Week for games played during the second week of the season.
Maxwell earned her first career win defeating North Greenville, pitching a complete game shutout. She gave up just three hits, while striking out seven Crusaders.
The native of Bowdon, Ga. entered game two with a tie ball game and bases loaded in the seventh inning. Maxwell worked out of the jam with the Trojans eventually scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth, allowing Maxwell to pick up her second career win.
Overall, Maxwell pitched 8 innings, allowed three hits and struck out 10 batters in the doubleheader sweep over the Crusaders.
The Black and Gold face nonconference opponent Lees-McRae today at 1pm/3pm.
