Trojans Take Two From Georgia College

Milledgeville, Ga. – The Anderson University Softball team took two games from nonconference opponent Georgia College winning game, 5-1, and completing the comeback to take game two, 12-8, on Tuesday afternoon at the Peeler Complex. The Trojans move to 8-1 overall, while the Bobcats fall to 0-4.

"Strong defensive play in both games by Hannah Whitaker, Jess Neadow and Morgan Charter along with good pitching from Sarah Middleton and Harlie Duncan helped secure both wins," said head coach Tommy Hewitt. "Mattie Hamilton had a great day going 5 for 8 with four RBI."

The Bobcats scored first with the Trojans answering back in the second inning. Anderson tacked on three more runs in the fifth inn and a lone run in the seventh to set the final score at 5-1. Senior Sarah Middleton (1-0) picked up the win, giving up five hit and striking out three batters.

-Kayson Boatner went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and two RBI.
-Yas Laureano batted 1-for-2 with a double.
-Mattie Hamilton went 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Game 2 Summary
Anderson 12          Augusta 8

The Bobcats jumped out to a 4-1 lead after four innings of play. Anderson put together back-to-back multiple run innings, scoring three and seven in the fourth and fifth innings. The Black and Gold also scored a lone run in the sixth inning. Georgia College closed the gap by scoring two runs each in the sixth and seventh, but Anderson's run support proved too much. Senior Harlie Duncan won her fourth game of the season. Duncan gave up eight hits and struck out three batters.

-Morgan Charter went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBI. 
-Yas Laureano batted 2-for-2 with a triple, a run scored and RBI.
