ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University men's basketball senior Alex Keel and men's lacrosse freshman Cam Weeks have been named the Jimmy John's Co-Male Athletes of the Week, while softball's Laken Maxwell has been named the Jimmy John's Female Athlete of the Week.

In the span of two days last week, Keel drained game-winning shots that lifted the men's basketball team to road wins over both Newberry and Lenoir-Rhyne.

Last Thursday, the 6-foot-2 guard dropped in a 17-foot jumper with 11.7 seconds remaining to lift AU to a 70-69 win at Newberry. Two days later, the 6-foot-2 guard repeated history by knocking down a 17-foot jumper with 5.2 seconds left to propel the Black and Gold to an 80-79 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne in South Atlantic Conference action at Shuford Gym. The Wolves had taken a one-point lead with just 33.4 seconds on the clock on Thursday, while AU rallied from a four-point deficit in the final two minutes at Lenoir-Rhyne.

Weeks, a native of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., was dominant for the Trojans as they picked up the first win in in program history last Saturday at Trojan Stadium. The 5-foot-10 freshman had 22 ground balls, scored a goal and won 26-of-30 (86.7%) face-offs. His faceoff percentage ranks him second nationally and his ground balls per game ranks him tops in the nation.

Maxwell, who was named South Atlantic Conference Pitcher of the Week for the second straight week, continues to dominate the circle, as the Trojans went 2-0 last week. The native of Bowdon, Ga., only allowed one run and three hits while striking out 11 batters in a win over Lees-McRae. She followed up by fanning 12 batters and didn't allow a run in a win over Chowan. Overall, Maxwell tossed 14 innings while allowing just six hits, two walks and striking out 23. On the season, Maxwell is 4-0 with a 0.32 ERA.
